Saints boss keen to bring winger back to McDiarmid Park

Derek McInnes is hoping to persuade Filipe Morais to pen a permanent deal with SPL new boys St Johnstone. Preparing for life back in the top flight of Scottish football, the Saints boss is keen to bolster his squad ahead of the new campaign. He sees former Portugal U21 international Morais as an ideal option, and has taken the tricky winger on trial. McInnes played alongside the 23-year-old during their days at Millwall and is well aware of what the youngster could bring to his side. He accepts that Morais has other options to consider this summer, but hopes the former Hibernian and Inverness Caledonian Thistle midfielder will agree to join him at McDiarmid Park. "I actually tipped off Owen Coyle about Filipe two years ago when he came to Saints on loan," McInnes said in the Daily Record. "I'd been impressed with him during my time at Millwall. He did fine here during the loan spell and got a move to Hibs and gained SPL experience. "I know he has other irons in the fire but I'm hoping he'll want to return to Saints. "The decision will be down to Filipe but hopefully he fancies a return to St Johnstone."
