Dundee United's on-loan defender Andy Webster believes the Terrors could face a battle to hang onto their highly-rated youngster David Goodwillie.
The 21-year-old has come of age this season, with an impressive season topped off by scooping the SPL Young Player of the Year award.
However, with SPL champions Rangers in the hunt for the Scotland Under 21 international, Webster told skysports.com that he would not look out of place in a Gers shirt next season.
"I think he made his debut when he was 16 and he is now 21, so he has been around for quite a while and I think a lot of youngsters struggle to get that consistency in their game," said Webster.
"I think he has managed to find that this season though and playing alongside other players that have had exceptional seasons, such as Jon Daly, who has come back from injury and become top goalscorer, has helped Goodie develop his game further.
"His performances have been very good this season and he works very hard not only in the final third, but also helping out defensively as well.
"I think that any good player in the SPL will be looked at by the Old Firm and the fact that he has scooped the SPL Young Player of the Year award will have boosted his credentials in their eyes I'm sure.
"There is always going to be interest in good players and I'm sure that the club will assess what is best for them if and when someone comes in for him, but a lot of it is purely speculation at the moment."
