South Yorkshire outfit offer new contracts to quartet

Sheffield United are hoping four first-team players will all sign new contracts with the club. Nick Montgomery, Stephen Quinn, Gary Naysmith and Richard Cresswell have all been offered new terms at Bramall Lane, but have yet to put pen to paper. Montgomery, whose current deal expires this summer, has been linked with moves to QPR and Leeds, while midfield partner Quinn still has another year to run on his existing contract. Scotland international Naysmith and striker Cresswell are both weighing up their offers. Chief executive Trevor Birch said: "We have put an improved offer to Nick Montgomery and are waiting on his response, while negotiations with Stephen Quinn continue following an offer we have made him. "Gary Naysmith is considering the new deal on the table here and we're quietly confident that Richard Cresswell will agree to sign his extended contract offer."
