Motherwell have confirmed eight players have been released in a squad shake-up ahead of next season. The Scottish Cup runners-up have trimmed back their squad following a sixth-place finish in the SPL this season under Stuart McCall. First-team members Maurice Ross, Angelis Charalambous, Esteban Casagolda, Francis Jeffers and Steven Meechan have all been released from the squad. Under 19s Liam Sloan, Gavin Griffin and Bradley Halsman have also been taken off the books. The remaining two men to leave Lanarkshire are Gavin Gunning and Steve Jones who are set to return to parent club Blackburn Rovers after loan spells. In addition to a number of exits, the club also announced in a statement that new contracts have been offered to captain Stephen Craigan, Steve Jennings, Lee Hollis, Steve Howarth, Jamie Pollock and Ross McKinnon.
