Gers boss keen to re-sign Gabon international

Rangers manager Ally McCoist is confident the club will be able to bring striker Daniel Cousin back to Ibrox. The Gabon international left Gers for Hull City in a £3million deal, although he is now understood to be a free agent. McCoist has been keeping a close eye on Cousin's performances in the Africa Cup of Nations with Gabon reaching the quarter-finals. The Light Blues boss remembers the 35-year-old striker's first spell well and is confident a deal can be brokered.

Talks

"I've spoken to Daniel at great length over the last few days," said McCoist. "I've watched his performances in the African Nations Cup as well and he is very keen to come. "When he was here was a big, strong powerful centre forward. "Having looked at his performances closely in the African Nations Cup, that doesn't seem to have altered at all. "He has a very physical presence and can still score a goal. He would certainly be a welcome addition to our squad. "I don't think, in all honesty, that I can remember a more physical or bigger, stronger centre-forward with a bit of pace as well. "I had a great relationship with Daniel and hopefully that can continue."
