It was announced earlier this month that the Scottish Premier League and the Scottish Football League would form a working party to push ahead with attempts to revamp the structure of the Scottish game.
SPL clubs had unanimously backed an idea for two top leagues of 12 which split into three divisions of eight after 22 games.
SFL clubs had set out different plans for a 16-10-16 structure but chief executive David Longmuir was encouraged by the "common ground" established after talks in early December.
The Scottish Football Association's professional game board is due to meet again on January 30 to discuss league reconstruction.
