Yoann Arquin's opener for County had been cancelled out by John McGinn midway through the second half.
Adams said: "I thought we were excellent today, from start to finish.
"I thought we deserved to be more than one goal up at half time. They got back in the game but we should have won by more considering the chances we had.
"It was a good performance following on from last week's match against Hibernian. We were strong and composed, we just upped it a notch."
The match also witnessed a flare up between the managers late-on, when both were ordered away from their respective dug outs.
His opposite number Danny Lennon added: "It's a passionate game. Derek wants the best for his side, I want the best for mine - nothing more than that.
"I'm actually disappointed in myself to be sucked into that. I didn't think there was a lot in it, but, as I say, it's a very passionate game."
As for the game, he went on: "I'm very disappointed not to take anything from that.
"I thought we did very well in the first 15 minutes, good quality strikes at goal and good deliveries into the box.
"Then the complete opposite happens in the next 30 minutes.
"I certainly believe that's where the damage was done today. We had a few words at half-time and, credit to the players, they responded and gave us everything we asked.
"We managed to get ourselves back into the game with a superb John McGinn goal.
"Unfortunately, one big ball over the top and they score again.
"With 12 games to go, it's important we compete and play in the manner we showed we can there for 60 minutes."
