Dundee United have agreed a fee of £200,000 with Wigan Athletic for Billy Mckay, according to Sky Sources.

It is understood the striker has yet to agree personal terms but he could be available to play for Jackie McNamara's side against Ross County on Saturday.

But until the deal is finalised - and Mckay's wage demands could be a stumbling block - McNamara is refusing to confirm the player is on his way to Tannadice.

"We're working on one or two things this now. There's nothing concrete at the moment but we are still trying to get some stuff done", he said.

"There's nothing more to report (on Mckay) at this moment. We will have to wait and see what's happening with one or two things.

"I don't like talking about things until they are over the line."

Mckay has played only nine games for Wigan since joining them in January this year.

The Dutchman - brother of Holland's World Cup star Wesley - signed in the summer but made just one brief substitute appearance against Aberdeen before leaving the club on medical grounds earlier this week.

"I was disappointed that things with Rodney didn't work out. I thought he'd have been a fantastic player for us," said McNamara.

"But sometimes, things are more important than football. You can take things for granted with players and over the last few weeks we were hoping he was going to recover.

"Hopefully that is the case and he can get back playing again because he's a fantastic talent."
