Partick Thistle have signed former Kilmarnock forward Robbie Muirhead on loan from Dundee United until January 4.

The 19-year-old only moved to Tannadice from Rugby Park in January but has failed to hold down a regular place in Jackie McNamara's side.

Muirhead scored twice last season for the Tayside outfit in consecutive games against Aberdeen and Inverness but he has failed to find the net in three appearances this term.

The Scotland U21 international is perhaps best known for the 40-yard goal he scored for his country in Lithuania which was nominated for UEFA's Goal of the Season prize in 2014/15.

Muirhead will now look to replicate that sort of form in Glasgow for Partick, who currently sit second bottom in the Scottish Premiership.

A statement on their official website confirmed the deal and said: "All at Thistle welcome Robbie and wish him all the best during his loan spell at Firhill."

Meanwhile, Thistle have sold defender Jack Hendry to Wigan for an undisclosed fee after the 20-year-old made just five first-team appearances.

Wigan boss Gary Caldwell said: "There were other clubs interested so we're delighted he has chosen to come to us. Let's hope he can start realising his potential with us at Wigan Athletic."
