The Scottish Under-21 international grabbed four goals as Bhoys boss Martin O'Neill gave the opportunity to some of his fringe players to stake a claim for a first-team place.
John Hartson opened the floodgates in the 22nd minute and Maloney netted his first just six minutes later.
Maloney then grabbed the third four minutes before the break and he completed his hat-trick after 53 minutes.
The youngster then hit his fourth and final goal of the night in the 68th minute to bring his season's tally to six.
Defender Oliver Tebily then got in on the scoring act by netting the sixth in 72nd minute and Hartson hit his second and the side's seventh just two minutes later.
Young Irish midfielder Colin Healy rounded off the scoring with the eighth goal 12 minutes from time to round off a comfortable evening for the SPL leaders.
The game also saw the return of Danish midfielder Morten Wieghorst to competitive first team action after more than a year out with Gullian-Barre Syndrome, a virus which attacks the brain.
The Bhoys will now face Livingston in the Fourth Round at Almondvale.
