Swedish hotshot Henrik Larsson grabbed his 20th goal of the campaign on 80 minutes and John Hartson sealed the win in the final minute, but it was tough on Well keeper Stevie Woods who had performed heroics to keep the marauding Celtic forwards at bay.
Woods continually denied Larsson and his strike partner Hartson, but the duo eventually combined on two occasions in the final ten minutes.
Larsson twice hit the post before scoring, Hartson also hit the woodwork, and the pair, plus Joos Valgaeren, were continually thwarted by an inspired Woods.
However, the visitors were finally undone in the final ten minutes, with Hartson flicking the ball into the path of Larsson who beat the custodian.
Then, as Well pressed forward, Larsson broke clear before squaring the ball for Hartson to slot home.
Aberdeen`s proud home record had to end at some point, and it was SPL new boys Livingston who brought their unbeaten streak to an end.
The Dons` last home defeat in the league came way back in July, but Livi were not daunted by visiting Pittodrie and were full value for the win.
Stevie Tosh opened the scoring, getting the final touch after great work from David Fernandez on 38 minutes.
The second came on 58 minutes, Phillipe Brinquin lashing the ball past substitute keeper Ryan Esson. Livi`s victory was secured when Marvin Andrews powered a header past the helpless Esson on 67 minutes.
Goals by Gary Wales and Ricardo Fuller were enough to give Hearts all the points from their trip to St Johnstone.
A fine run and shot on 87 minutes by Jim Paterson was enough for Dundee United to sink struggling Hibernian.
The other two SPL games, Dunfermline`s trip to Dundee and Kilmarnock`s game with Rangers, fell victim to weather.
