Both players received knocks while on international duty last week and were forced to miss Bayern's 3-2 defeat at Wolfsburg, but have now reported back to duty.
"I believe that Michael will be able to start," revealed coach Ottmar Hitzfeld, who needs the playmaker as he is already without Jens Jeremies and Sebastian Deisler in midfield, while French defender Willy Sagnol and Brazilian international Ze Roberto are both still doubtful with knee problems.
Hitzfeld had been told by the club's management that another failure to make the second round will not be tolerated and the coach warned his players not to underestimate the challenge provided by Martin O'Neill's outfit.
"Celtic have proved their international class by making it into last season's Uefa Cup final and we've to be careful like hell not to fall into their dangerous fast-breaks," Hitzfeld claimed.
The former Grasshoppers and Dortmund boss is hopeful that new signing Roy Makaay will finally live up to his reputation after scoring his first Bundesliga goal against Wolfsburg.
"A burden was relieved from him with his goal and I am sure that he'll find it much easier to settle in now," he said.
