Caley fail in Wallace move

Inverness have failed in a bid to take Celtic youngster Ross Wallace on loan.

Inverness have failed in a bid to take Celtic youngster Ross Wallace on loan.

Caley player-manager Craig Brewster had asked Celtic assistant boss John Robertson about taking Wallace on loan for the rest of the season.

Wallace has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Celtic side this season and has not started a game since October.

However, Celtic do not want to let Wallace leave as he is a key member of Martin O'Neill's plans.

"I spoke to John Robertson at Celtic and asked him what the chances were of getting Ross here until the end of the season," said Brewster.

"He said there was no chance. They rate Ross very highly and plan to use him in the coming months.

"That's the only conversation I've had with anyone about bringing players here and I've not made any other moves as yet.

"I would have been delighted to have Ross here because he is a great talent.

"To have him for a few months and give him games would have been brilliant for us.

"I know he is highly thought of at Celtic, though, but if you don't ask, you don't get."
