Following an instantly forgettable first period Aberdeen were the quicker out of the blocks after the interval and took the lead in the 52nd minute.
After Celtic captain Neil Lennon was booked for a trip on Richie Byrne, the resulting free kick was rolled to Jamie Winter who produced a superb finish in beating Artur Boruc from 25 yards.
Celtic's response was almost immediate, as just three minutes later they were level as youngster Aiden McGeady kept his cool to dispatch from around the penalty spot after capitalising on Bobo Balde's shot that had taken a deflection in to his path.
In the 57th minute John Hartson struck a drive too hot for Ryan Esson - who could only spill to Stilian Petrov - with the Bulgarian neat in his finish in rounding the floored Dons keeper.
With Celtic in complete ascendancy, former Southampton utility man Paul Telfer ensured maximum spoils when he skipped past Scott Muirhead and drove home in to the far post for a rare goal.
Substitute Shaun Maloney could and maybe should have added a fourth at the conclusion, but Gordon Strachan was more than content with what was an improved performance.
