Stephen McManus is looking to sort out a new deal at Celtic as soon as possible.Celtic defender Stephen McManus claims his wage demands are not excessive despite claims the Glasgow giants have halted negotiations on a new deal.
The 23-year-old, whose current deal runs out at the end of the season, is reported to have turned down a one-year extension to his contract - according to reports.
McManus has been an ever present for Celtic in the league this year and he is confident a deal can be thrashed out.
"Obviously I'm looking forward to staying at Celtic and hopefully things will get sorted out reasonably soon," McManus said.
"Everyone wants it done as soon as possible and I'm sure it will. I think that everyone that knows me knows that I'm down to earth and I'm not hard to deal with.
"I'm just concentrating on my football and leaving everything else down to the people who are representing me.
"But I'm confident that I will be at Celtic in the long term, there's no doubt about that."
McManus has spoken to boss Gordon Strachan, who has assured him he wants him to stay.
"I've had a chat with manager and he has expressed to me that he wants to keep me which is a great confidence-booster.
"When you are playing every week with Celtic and that's what you've always wanted to do, then of course I'm keen to stay.
"I want to stay hopefully as much as they want to keep me," he added.
