Gordon Strachan has continued his spending spree with the capture of Derek Riordan.
Celtic boss Gordon Strachan has continued his summer spending spree with the capture of striker Derek Riordan.
Strachan is keen to ensure his side put up a fight in the UEFA Champions League and has already brought in midfield quality in the guise of Jiri Jarosik.
Riordan was a long-term target for Strachan and in fact signed a pre-contract agreement to make the move to Parkhead in October.
The Bhoys, though, were keen to have the striker in place for the start of pre-season and reached agreement with Hibernian on Friday.
This has allowed Riordan to sign a three-year deal with an option in place for a further 12 months, and the 23-year-old will join up with his new team-mates for pre-season training.
Riordan is looking forward to getting his career in Glasgow started.
"I am very excited about joining Celtic," said Riordan. "Celtic is a club which has a fantastic history, tremendous fans and one which has enjoyed great success over many years.
"Along with the other players at the club, I will be working hard to try to ensure that we continue to bring the fans success."
Strachan feels Riordan has the qualities needed to succeed at Celtic.
"Derek is a young, talented football player and we are looking forward to working with him," said Strachan. "I am sure he can be a great success at Celtic."
