Benfica midfielder punished for tackle on Brown

Benfica midfielder Augustin Binya has been banned for six matches following his tackle on Celtic's Scott Brown. Binya was sent off during the UEFA Champions League encounter between the two clubs at Parkhead earlier this month after a shocking challenge on Brown. Uefa has looked into the tackle and has punished the Benfica youngster with a six-match suspension. It means Binya will miss the Portuguese club's remaining Champions League group games against Milan on 28th November and Shakhtar Donetsk on 4th December. Binya has three days to lodge an appeal against the sanction after previously insisting he did not deliberately set out to hurt Brown. But, after Celtic's 1-0 win in the game, Brown revealed his belief that his opponent had tried to break his leg.
