Despite failing to perform at their best the visitors took the lead on the stroke of half-time after Neil McCann turned home the ball from a Mikel Arteta corner.
Within minutes of the re-start The Pars were back on level terms when Craig Brewster rifled the ball past Stefan Klos after a quickly-taken throw-in by Stevie Crawford.
Just when it looked like it might not be Rangers' day, Arteta floated in a superb free-kick and Lorenzo Amoruso latched onto it and scored.
With the home side pushing forward late on looking for an equaliser, substitute Claudio Caniggia headed home Amoruso's free-kick to seal the victory.
Hearts stay in third with a comfortable 3-0 win over Kilmarnock at Tynecastle - Alan Maybury, Mark de Vries and Canadian international Kevin McKenna with the goals for The Jambos, as Greg Shields was sent off for Killie.
Motherwell's moved off the bottom of the SPL with a 2-1 victory over Hibernian at Fir Park.
David Clarkson and Shaun Fagan had the goals for Terry Butcher's men while Garry O'Connor replied for The Hibees but it was not enough in the end.
Partick Thistle got an early goal from Alex Burns to beat Aberdeen 1-0 at Pittodrie. James McAllister was sent off with two minutes to go for The Dons.
