Late Hughes strike hands Gers win

His late right foot strike well into time added on was enough to seal three crucial points for The Gers, as Alex Mcleish's men closed the gap on leaders, and Old Firm rivals, Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premier League.
Hibs boss Bobby Williamson will be gutted not to have taken at least a point from the match on Sunday afternoon, and his side will rue the missed opportunities they had to take the lead.
Ian Murray will be most disappointed not to have scored for The Hibees with a sitter from four yards out in the opening half, having struck the ball over the bar.
The visitors finished the stronger, however, and Hughes's goal brought delight to the travelling support in Edinburgh, as The Gers are now within five points of leaders Celtic.
In the other SPL match on Sunday, struggling Dundee United beat Hearts 2-1 at Tannadice Park.
First half Goals by Alan Archibald and Derek McInnes gave The Terrors three vital points, as the Tayside club look to move away from the bottom of the table.
Scott Severin replied with a consolation two minutes after the break for The Jambos, but it was a bad day all-round for the Scottish capital clubs.
