All the goals came in the first half, with the Old Firm giants taking the lead after just two minutes when Gers starlet Alan Hutton headed home Ronald de Boer's corner.
Nine minutes later, they doubled their lead when Peter Lovenkrands (pictured) played a one-two with Gavin Rae before hitting a low volley past Pars goalkeeper Derek Stillie.
It was Dunfermline's turn to score ten minutes later when Andrew Tod's header from Barry Nicholson's diagonal ball on the right flew past Gers custodian Stefan Klos.
The home side then eased their worries with two goals in two minutes midway through the opening half, with de Boer curling home a fine effort after Stephen Hughes laid off Lovenkrands's byline cut-back from the left.
Michael Mols finished the scoring two minutes later with a trademark turn and shot to make it 4-1.
The result confirmed that Rangers are set to take the runners-up spot in the SPL this season behind champions-elect Celtic while Dunfermline are eight points adrift of third place Hearts.
