Villarreal captain Quique Alvarez will miss the Champions League tie with Rangers.Villarreal skipper Quique Alvarez has been ruled out of action for a month and will miss the UEFA Champions League tie with Rangers.
Alvarez tore a muscle in his left leg during last weekend's 1-0 defeat at Celta Vigo.
Tests have confirmed the full extent of the problem and he will spend at least three weeks on the sidelines.
It is the third occasion that Alvarez has been injured in what is proving a frustrating campaign for the 30-year-old stopper.
Villarreal are currently in their worst run of form for some time having won only won of their last seven league games.
However, they have been boosted by the news that talismanic midfielder Juan Roman Riquelme should be fit for the clash with Rangers.
