Walter Smith says Andy Webster could yet earn himself a permanent deal at Rangers.
Walter Smith has confirmed that Rangers' loanee defender Andy Webster is in-line to secure a permanent deal at Ibrox this summer.
Webster joined the club from Wigan in January, and is yet to play a single game for the club after picking up a knee injury in his first training session.
However, despite his lack of first-team action, Smith says the 24-year-old could yet earn himself a long-term contract..
"As the weeks go by, the likelihood of him being involved is less although he is coming along," Smith told the Daily Record.
"He is a player we would like to bring back and the arrangement is made but it is complicated by the tribunal aspect of things."
Despite having a possible deal in place, Smith admitted that he and his management staff are yet to make a final decision on Webster's future.
"We will have to wait for the outcome of that and we will go from there," he continued.
"He is just unfortunate in that he picked up a bad injury at the time he did."
