The former Hearts winger has struggled for form this year after drawing rave reviews for his performances in the bottom tier of Scottish football last season following his reported £700,000 move in August 2012.
Those displays in Rangers' march toward the third division title caught the eye of Scotland boss Gordon Strachan and he was linked with a call-up to the senior squad.
However, he never got the chance to add to his two U19 and two U21 caps and this season has seen him in and out of the first-team picture at Ibrox.
But after scoring 16 goals in 31 games during his time at the club, Templeton believes the confidence gained from the clincher at Falkirk will kickstart his season with the runaway league leaders.
Nicky Law opened the scoring in the 89th minute before Templeton ensured there was no way back for 10-man Falkirk in the third minute of stoppage time.
"The gaffer said to me when I came on to try to win the game," he said. "I know Nicky scored but to get a goal myself is good and will help my confidence.
"I have not been playing great recently when I have been in the team so hopefully I can kick on from this.
"Confidence is important for every player. When you are confident and playing well you always want the ball and you're happy to take people on.
"When things aren't going well, it can show. I think against Dunfermline recently, I was trying to do too much. I was overdoing things, which doesn't help me. I just need to get back to basics and try to get the confidence back.
"That said, the main aim before the game was to make sure we got through. It was obviously a hard game but I think we did deserve the win in the end.
"I was hoping we would get an earlier goal which would have made the game more comfortable for us but I think the boys' spirit showed.
"We kept fighting until the end and when we got a chance we took it and managed to get another one."
