The central defender, who has not played since the Scottish Cup Final last May because of a leg problem, saw his comeback bid wrecked when he twisted a leg in training on Tuesday.
Now it may take the Scotland under-21 international another month before he gets closer to Ebbe Skovdahl's squad.
Highly-rated Anderson, 22, will have a scan on his leg later this week as a precautionary measure but the extent of the damage will not be known until the swelling goes down.
However, Skovdahl is set to be boosted by the return to his squad of Norwegian pair Thomas Solberg and Arild Stavrum for the weekend clash with St Johnstone at Pittodrie.
Both have been out since near the start of the season but each came through an under-21 match with St Mirren unscathed. However, Philip McGuire, who has been serving a suspension, ran into more bad luck when he hurt his ankle in the same match and is definitely out.
