The visitors had got off to the best possible start with a goal from Jim McIntyre just a minute after the break, but the game turned in the Dons favour in a crazy two minutes for Dundee United when they had two men sent-off.
Jamie McCunnie was dismissed in the 51st minute for a professional foul on Robbie Winters as Aberdeen were awarded a penalty.
Winters scored from the spot to draw the sides level and just a minute later United central defender Jim Laughlan was red carded for violent conduct.
Zeroulai made Aberdeen's numerical advantage count when he scored the winner after 69 minutes to give The Dons 10 points in their last four games which lifts them up to fifth in the table.
St Johnstone are still looking for their first win of the season after being held to a 2-2 draw with ten-man Livingston at McDiarmid Park.
Peter MacDonald's second half goal gave The Saints the share of the spoils after Livvy had come from behind to take the lead.
Veteran striker Willie Falconer had given the home side the perfect start with the opening goal after 16 minutes, but two goals in three minutes gave the visitors the lead.
Francisco Quino drew the sides level after 25 minutes and David Bingham fired Livvy in front just three minutes later to cap a remarkable turnaround.
MacDonald equalised just five minutes after the break and Livingston were forced to hang on at the end for the point after Quino was sent-off for violent conduct in the 62nd minute.
Leaders Celtic travel to Dundee later in the day hoping to extend their lead at the top of the table.
