ABERDEEN'S Kevin McNaughton is a shock target for Italian giants Internazionale.
The Scottish Under-21 international caught the eye of Italian scouts after they travelled to watch Dundee goalkeeper Julian Speroni.
Inter have been watching Speroni's progress with a great deal of interest in recent weeks, but during Dundee's 0-0 draw with Aberdeen in January it was defender McNaughton who impressed the visiting Italians.
Aberdeen have confirmed to planetfootball.com that an Inter scout was at Pittodrie last month.
"Inter did have a scout, but he was their to watch Dundee's goalkeeper," A Dons spokesman told planetfootball.
"But Kevin did play very well and he would have impressed.
"I don't really think they will come in as Kevin is very much committed to Aberdeen and is still very young.
"I will let him know and tell him to start learning Italian," he added with his tongue firmly in his cheek.
Inter have been looking for left sided talent for most of this season and Leeds' Ian Harte is known to be high on their wanted list.
McNaughton is unlikely to be an immediate transfer-target, but the Nerazzurri will be tracking the progress of the young Scot.
English sides Leeds, Ipswich and Middlesbrough have also been impressed by the 20-year-old in recent months and are continuing to keep tabs on him.
