Dons trio agree new deals

ABERDEEN trio David Preece, Kevin Rutkiewicz and Scott Michie have all agreed new deals at Pittodrie.

Goalkeeper Preece has signed a three-year deal, which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2005-06 season.

Preece's future had been up in the air as Aberdeen were unwilling to pay an extra £50,000 due to his former club, Darlington, once he has played sufficient first-team games, but the Third Division side agreed to a compromise.

The highly-rated shot-stopper revealed he had received offers from other clubs, but that he was happy to stay at Pittodrie.

"I had other offers, but any move from here wouldn't give me the same chances as I'll have at Aberdeen," said Preece.

"There aren't many clubs in Britain where you can say you have a realistic chance of qualifying for Europe or winning cups."

Defender Rutkiewicz and striker Michie have also indicated that they are prepared to sign the one-year deals on offer to them.

Dons boss Steve Paterson has also decided to offer a new one year deal to Murray McCulloch while Ross O'Donoghue will be released at the end of his current deal in June.
