There were also wins for fellow SPL outfits Motherwell, Dundee, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and Inverness Caledonian Thistle in a second round devoid of shocks.
Stephen Glass opened the scoring for Hibs on 20 minutes, and early second half efforts from Austria international Alen Orman (pictured), Colin Murdock and Derek Riordan killed the contest.
Jim Paterson (42), Kevin McBride (67) and David Clarkson (75) got on the scoresheet, as Hibs eased to a 3-0 win at Greenock Morton.
Dundee were convincing 4-0 visitors at home to Forfar Athletic, with Stuart Lovell netting a hat-trick and Iain Anderson the other.
Aberdeen cruised to a 3-0 success over Berwick Rangers. Zander Diamond set the hosts on the way at Pittodrie, and further strikes from Derek Adams and Steven Craig completed the scoring.
Kilmarnock won by the same margin against Hamilton, Australian Danny Invincible helped himself to a brace and Gary McDonald also notched.
Inverness CT edged past Ross County courtesy of a goal midway through the second half from Ross Tokely.
Falkirk thrashed Peterhead 6-1 with former Southend United striker Andy Thomson grabbing a hat-trick.
Strike partner Darryl Duffy helped himself to a double and John O'Neil also notched, while Martin Bavidge got a consolation for Peterhead.
Partick Thistle cruised past Stenhousemuir with a 5-2 victory. Leigh Hinds netted twice and further efforts from Billy Gibson, Juan Ramon Escalas and Derek Fleming (penalty) made goals from Paul McGrillen and Joseph Savage irrelevant.
Clyde sneaked past Airdrie United with a late strike from Aron Wilford, while Albion Rovers edged out Brechin City 4-3 on penalties after Paul Ritchie had cancelled out John Bradford's opener to ensure the game finished 1-1 after extra time.
