Terry Butcher's men had a tough looking tie against Aberdeen, but they came through thanks to a spectacular effort from Brian Kerr.
Kerr opened the scoring just three minutes in with his 25-yard drive.
However, The Dons should have been level minutes later when they were awarded a penalty - but Jamie Smith could not convert as Graeme Smith pulled off a remarkable double save.
Aberdeen's cause was not helped when Zander Diamond was dismissed for handling Jim Hamilton's through ball with 16 minutes left, and Motherwell sealed their place in the last four.
Dunfermline dispatched of Hibernian at East End Park with a 3-0 victory.
Mark Burchill (pictured) helped himself to a first half double (15 & 45), before Gary Mason fired home in injury time to seal victory for The Pars.
Livingston joined Motherwell and Dunfermline in the semi-finals thanks to an extra time triumph over Inverness at Almondvale.
Craig Dargo struck in the very first minute for the visitors, but Dave MacKay levelled just before the interval.
The game went into added time and it was left to former Newcastle man Paul Dalglish to fire home with just three minutes left.
The last place in the last four will be decided on Wednesday when holders Rangers face arch-rivals Celtic.
