McGhee loses youngster for the season

Aberdeen have been hit with the news that youngster Peter Pawlett has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury. Pawlett picked up the injury in their first Scottish Cup clash against Raith earlier this month, although it was not thought to be too serious. However, after undergoing surgery on his patellar tendon it has now been confirmed he will miss four months and not just four weeks. Dons boss Mark McGhee has admitted losing the 19-year-old is a massive blow, but hopes he comes back a better injury-free player.

Surgery

"Peter has had surgery on his patellar tendon and it turns out there was more to it than they first thought," McGhee told the Press and Journal. "It is now looking like 12 weeks rather than four, which will take him up to the end of the season. "It is a shame for him and for the club. Hopefully, the surgery has now cleared up some of the problems he was having. "His focus is now on getting healthy for next season."
