Belgian midfielder Arnaud Djoum has joined Hearts on a short-term contract.
The club revealed Djoum had signed a deal until January and could be available for the Premiership clash at Celtic Park on Saturday, subject to international clearance.
The 26-year-old, who left Polish side Lech Poznan in the summer, had trained with Hearts for a week.
Djoum previously played for Dutch side Roda JC for five years.
"It's a big step for me, this is a big club with a lot of tradition and I hope to be successful here. I was very impressed by the facilities here and everyone has been very welcoming," Djoum told Hearts TV.
"I'm an aggressive midfield player with good technical ability. I have a lot of experience; I won a title last year and I have played in several countries and adapted to different styles of football. I hope this experience can enable me to bring something to the team.
"I've heard all about Tynecastle and I can't wait to see this place full of fans. I know that the fans here are some of the best in Scotland so I'm excited to experience it."
Head coach Robbie Neilson said the club could consider extending Djoum's deal beyond January.
"I'm pleased to get Arnaud in. He's came in and he's a good player with a good pedigree. He fitted in well with the group and he'll be a great asset to us," Neilson told his club's official website.
"He's on a deal until January, so we can take a look at him and then see about extending it further, but I'm pleased to get him in the door.
"He's got power. He's a good football player. He played in Belgium, Holland, Turkey and [for] the top team in the top league in Poland, so he's got great experience. He's got a lot of drive in midfield and energy, which is something that we need."
