The 20-year-old's impressive recent form has been rewarded with the news that he is a reserve for the Scotland squad, after being surprisingly omitted from Rainer Bonhoff's Under-21 party that beat Ireland.
Hearts boss Craig Levein (pictured) admitted that he felt it was about time his starlet was recognised by his nation.
"I'm a little surprised he hasn't been considered in the past," said Levein.
"Andy has done well and he's taken his recent chance in the team very well.
"Maybe he has realised he cannot come in and play one game well and then poorly in the next, then well again.
"He has to be consistent in the way he plays and he has managed that in the last few games."
