Gary Caldwell gave Hibs the lead after 22 minutes at Easter Road, and Kevin Thomson doubled their advantage on the stroke of half time.
Derek Riordan sealed the victory with a penalty on 64 minutes, but even manager Bobby Williamson thought the scoreline was flattering considering that two goals came from free kicks and one from the spot.
"I'm very pleased we kept a clean sheet because Killie had a few chances and we had to rely on the goalkeeper a few times, but I thought we started the game the better side," Williamson admitted.
"The 3-0 scoreline probably flatters us, but we'd take that any week. We haven't been putting in any extra free-kick practice, because we always go over it in training."
Bottom side Partick Thistle grabbed a rare victory at high-flying Hearts.
Former Queens Park Rangers man Andy Thomson scored the only goal of the game at Firhill as hearts ended the game a man light after Paul Hartley was sent off late on for his second bookable offence.
