Hearts have completed the signing of Chris Hackett from Oxford.Hearts have completed the signing of Chris Hackett from Oxford and they are also rekindled their interest in Racing Genk winger Mirsad Beslija.
Hackett put pen-to-paper on a two-and-half year deal after sealing his move from League Two Oxford.
The 22-year-old confirmed he rejected a move to Hearts' city-rivals Hibernian.
"I spoke to Tony [Mowbray, Hibs manager], but as soon as I heard of Hearts' interest I was keen to link up with Graham [Rix]," he said.
"I knew of a couple of Championship clubs were interested as well."
Ironically Hackett is now likely to make his debut against Hibernian on Saturday.
"I have heard about the Derby before and it is going to be a fantastic game," he said. "It will be an eye opener. These are the games you want to be involved in.
"The passion will be great. It will be a massive game, but they are all massive games from now to the end of the season. It is a lot different to what I am used to."
Hackett is likely to be joined at Tynecastle by both Beslija and Bruno Aguiar.
Hearts had originally pulled out of the chase for Beslija, but they are now thrashing out a deal with Genk and are expected to unveil his arrival early next week - as they will also do with Portuguese defender Aguiar.
