Noel Hunt is hoping Dundee United will sign Hearts defender Steven Pressley.
Noel Hunt is hoping Dundee United will sign Hearts defender Steven Pressley in the New Year.
Pressley's Hearts future is uncertain after he was left out of the team for Monday's draw with Falkirk, following his recent comments regarding the unrest at Tynecastle.
He could also be stripped of the captaincy permanently and has been linked with a return to United.
The Scotland international spent three years at Tannadice before joining Hearts in 1998 and Terrors striker Hunt would welcome Pressley's arrival.
"Obviously the rumours have been flying about," Hunt told Sky Sports News.
"I think everyone in Scotland knows 'Elvis' is a great player and a great leader, and he can only be good for us.
"Playing against him, he is a hardy defender and, for someone like Dundee United, he would be a great signing."
United boss Craig Levein has questioned whether the club would be able to afford the 33-year-old, and Hunt is unsure if a deal can be fixed up in January.
He added: "Who knows? A lot of things have happened at Hearts as everyone knows. Obviously it's not positive.
"It is quite possible he might turn out for us in January."
