Scottish Premiership round-up: Aberdeen and Hearts heap pressure on Rangers with wins

A round-up of all the weekend's action from the Scottish Premiership

Niall McGinn scored an added-time winner as Aberdeen left it late to claim a 1-0 win over Motherwell at Pittodrie.

McGinn netted from close range to score the only goal of the game to move Aberdeen nine points clear of third-placed Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers, who appointed Pedro Caixinha as their new manager just as Saturday's afternoon games kicked off, will also be looking over their shoulders as Hearts cut the gap on them to five points after a 4-0 victory over Hamilton Academical.

Hamilton showed plenty of resilience in the first half before Arnaud Sutchuin-Djoum struck the opener for Hearts in added-time before the break.

The home side came out of the traps quickly in the second half with Isma Goncalves and Jamie Walker putting them three goals up before the hour mark.

And Malaury Martin's 88th minute free kick rounded off the win, leaving Hamilton 11th in the Premiership and giving Hearts their first win in six in all competitions.

St Johnstone remain a point behind Hearts in fifth place after two goals in seven first-half minutes gave them a 2-0 win over Dundee at McDiarmid Park.

Kris Boyd scored five minutes from time to give Kilmarnock a 2-1 win at Ross County.

Conor Sammon gave Kilmarnock the lead early in the second half before Liam Boyce levelled just before the hour-mark with his 14th goal of the season.

But Boyd's neat finish late on secured the three points for the away side, taking Kilmarnock up to seventh in the table.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle remain bottom despite Gary Warren's late goal earning them a 1-1 draw at Partick Thistle.

Kris Doolan's 10th goal of the season gave Partick a 56th-minute lead but Warren scored a header in added time to snatch a late point for Caley Thistle.
