Kilmarnock have no immediate plans to hire a permanent successor to Lee McCulloch in the international break.
McCulloch lost his job on Sunday after a poor start to the season that sees Kilmarnock sitting bottom of the Scottish Premiership without a win, but the club say they will not be rushed into making an appointment in the next two weeks despite a daunting fixture list.
In the meantime, academy director Paul McDonald has taken charge of first-team training with the assistance of under-20 manager Andy Millen and striker Kris Boyd, and the trio will continue to do so until further notice.
Jim McIntyre has been touted as the early favourite for the role despite having just been sacked as Ross County boss last week following a similar run of poor form, while Paul Hartley and Gary Holt are also likely to be in the running.
McCulloch, a former Scotland international, was made permanent boss at Rugby Park in the summer after impressing as interim manager last season, but Saturday's 2-0 defeat at home to Ross County left them bottom of the table with just three points.
Large sections of the home support made their feelings clear to McCulloch following a dismal first-half display, and the board announced his departure by mutual consent in a statement on Sunday afternoon.
