Gary Mackay-Steven scored a hat-trick as a rampant Aberdeen produced a stunning display to beat Hibernian 4-1 on Saturday and inflict a first away league defeat of the season on their visitors.

Mackay-Steven, the match-winner when the teams met in the reverse fixture at Easter Road in October, netted twice before the interval after Graeme Shinnie's opener.

The 27-year-old winger completed his treble in the second period as the Dons ran out 4-1 winners to chalk up a third straight victory. Anthony Stokes scored Hibs' late consolation.

Rangers' rejuvenation under caretaker boss Graeme Murty came to an abrupt halt with a 3-1 defeat by St Johnstone at Ibrox.

The Govan side went into the game on the back of four successive Ladbrokes Premiership wins for the first time in a year and got off to a flyer with a goal in the fifth minute from Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos.

However, Saints midfielder Blair Alston thundered in a leveller five minutes later and second-half goals from Denny Johnstone - on loan from Colchester - and his replacement Graham Cummins within a minute of coming on gave the visitors their first league win at Ibrox since 1971.

Accies emerged 3-2 victors at the SuperSeal Stadium after a dramatic final six minutes which saw three goals, two red cards and stewards stepping in to keep players apart in a stormy finale.

Players from both teams charged over after a tussle between County's Kenny van der Weg and Accies' Ioannis Skondras, and several traded blows. Skondras was shown a straight red card minutes after County's Michael Gardyne walked for a second bookable offence.

Dougie Imrie and Georgios Sarris had both given Accies the lead, with County levelling twice through Craig Curran and Van der Weg.

Jamie MacDonald was the busier of the goalkeepers and he played his part in sealing Kilmarnock's 1-0 victory.

Sofien Moussa scored twice from the spot to give Dundee a vital 3-0 win over relegation rivals Partick Thistle at Dens Park.

The sides were just a point apart going into the game, with Thistle hoping to climb off the foot of the table for the first time in almost a month.

But it proved a torrid afternoon for visiting captain Daniel Devine, who conceded two penalties for Moussa to net his first goals since September. Mark O'Hara was also on target in a convincing performance.
