Dundee were relegated from the SPL after a 1-1 draw at Livingston.Dundee were relegated from the SPL after a 1-1 draw at Livingston.
Four teams were all battling to avoid the drop at the start of the day, but it was The Dark Blues who ultimately succumbed following a draw at Almondvale.
Needing a win to have any chance of avoiding the drop, things started well for Dundee who took the lead on 18 minutes from Callum McDonald.
However, former Dundee United man Craig Easton (pictured) got what proved to be a decisive equaliser just eight minutes later and Dundee could not respond again.
Dunfermline were fortunate to escape after suffering a 4-0 hammering at Kilmarnock.
Gary Locke put the hosts one up at the break, and a three-goal salvo inside twenty minutes at the start of the second period killed the game.
Rhian Dodds (46), Kris Boyd (54) and Gary McDonald (64) all got on the scoresheet, but in the end it mattered not to Dunfermline because of events at Almondvale.
Dundee United could also have ended the day falling through the relegation trapdoor, but made sure that would never be a possibility following a 1-0 at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
A late Barry Robson penalty ensured any lingering nerves were calmed as he slotted home from the spot seven minutes from time, although he blotted his copybook after being sent off for a second bookable offence in the final minute.
