Anthony Stokes could return from injury to face Greenock Morton, according to Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs.

Stokes, 27, has made one appearance for Hibs since signing on loan from Celtic and missed Saturday's League Cup semi-final win over St Johnstone through injury.

However, Stubbs says the Republic of Ireland international has now recovered and is in contention to start at Cappielow Park on Tuesday.

"He just had a little bit of a stiff lower back," Stubbs said. "It's probably been a little bit because he has been driving about a bit. He was close to being involved [against St Johnstone] but we just decided not to risk him.

"We are very hopeful he will be okay for Tuesday."

Alan Stubbs believes Hibernian deserved to beat St Johnstone on Saturday

Hibs are currently eight points behind Championship leaders Rangers with a game in hand and Stubbs says his side's focus must remain on the league, rather than their upcoming cup final appearance.

"For me, we have got a more important game on Tuesday against Morton," said Stubbs.

"We want to keep that momentum going and the more we can keep winning games, it's only going to build the confidence of the players, if it does need building."

Meanwhile, Midfielder Frasier Fyvie says Hibs have proved they are of Premiership quality by reaching the final of the cup.

"We sent out a statement that we want to do well in every competition," he said. "The league is the most important, but we've got ourselves in a cup final now.

"I think the league is our main priority, we want to get back into the Scottish Premiership and we've shown we can compete with the top-flight teams."
