Kaiserslautern have had a bid rejected by Hibernian for Derek Riordan.Kaiserslautern have had a bid rejected by Hibernian for Derek Riordan.
The German club watched the young striker in action last weekend against Dunfermline and Riordan impressed with two goals in the 3-1 victory.
Kaiserslautern tabled a £250,000 bid for the Scottish international as they look to bring him in before the close of the transfer window.
Riordan's future at Easter Road is up in the air with the club putting the youngster up for sale after he failed to agree a new deal in the summer.
The 23-year-old's current contract expires in October and Hibs fear they could lose the marksman for nothing.
Hibs chairman Rod Petrie has confirmed that they had rejected an offer from a German side for Riordan.
"Derek's agent was here at the weekend looking after representatives of a German club," Petrie told the club's official website.
"They followed up their interest with a formal offer which has been rejected by the club.
"Our preference, if at all possible, is for Derek to continue his career at the club developing as a player all the time under the guidance of Tony Mowbray and the coaching staff."
Kaiserslautern could face a fight for Riordan with Bundesliga rivals Nurnberg in the frame for his signature.
