John Collins has denied telling Scott Brown and Kevin Thomson they would be dropped for the Boxing Day derby at Hearts.
Thomson was suspended for the 5-1 SPL win over St Mirren, while Brown was missing through injury.
The pair's agent Willie McKay claimed the Hibs boss had told the midfielders they would not play at Tynecastle during a heated discussion about the decision to reject Charlton's £3m offer for both players.
But Collins said: "It never came from my mouth. Whoever has come out and said it is telling a complete lie.
"Scott picked up an injury on Thursday at training. Nothing too serious, hopefully he will be back with us tomorrow (Sunday). But it was enough to keep him out the game today."
Collins says Thomson is also in his thoughts for the Hearts game.
"Kevin is back fresh after a day off. Both are in contention," added Collins
