Carlisle hoping to win race for Chelsea midfielder

Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott says he is 'very pleased' with how talks to sign Chelsea midfielder Tom Taiwo are progressing. Taiwo spent the first half of the season on loan at Brunton Park and Carlisle have agreed a deal with Chelsea to sign the youngster permanently. However, Taiwo has yet to make a decision on his future and skysports.com understands he was watched by Barnsley, Plymouth and Charlton in last Saturday's FA Cup tie at Everton. Abbott does not want to rush the 19-year-old into a decision on his future, but is hoping the talks will eventually reach a positive conclusion. "The talks were as positive as they could be and we are very pleased with the way they are going," Abbott told the club's official website. "These things can never be rushed, but Tom will come in for training on Wednesday morning as normal and we can pick up from there again."
