Crocked centre-half facing up to nine months out
St Mirren defender Darren McGregor is expected to be out for up to nine months with a knee injury, says manager Danny Lennon.
The centre-back suffered what is suspected to be cruciate ligament damage during the Saints' 1-1 draw with Dundee United on Saturday.
Lennon admits 25-year-old McGregor's lengthy absence will strike a 'great loss' for the Scottish Premier League side.
He told the club's official website: "We expect Darren to be out for six to nine months.
"He is a big player for us and he will be a great loss to St Mirren. But he is a player who has great mental strength and I know he will work twice as hard to make it back.
"He is a player with a big future in the game and we hope he makes a full recovery as soon as possible."
