Thomson returned to Easter Road this weekend on a short-term deal to the end of the campaign, and made a late substitute appearance in the 0-0 draw with Hearts on Sunday.
The 28-year-old has no idea if he will extend his stay in Leith and plans to make the most of his opportunity following his release by Middlesbrough in January.
Hibs are still in the hunt for a Europa League spot and have a Scottish Cup semi-final against Falkirk to look forward to next month.
"I just want to do my best for the club," Thomson said. "Hopefully when we get to the end of the season it will have been a successful couple of months.
"With football, you don't really know what's around the corner. I'll give my all for the next two months and we'll see where we are in the summer."
And Thomson, whose first spell with Hibs ended six years ago, revealed he offered to play for free because of budget constraints at the club.
He added: "I wanted to help the club. It's probably the only club in Britain that I would play for nothing for."
