Hibernian remain top of the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship thanks to a comfortable 2-0 home win over Dumbarton.

Goals from Paul Hanlon and Brian Graham were enough for Hibs to fend off The Sons and they stay top on goal difference from Dundee United, also winners on Saturday.

Hanlon was at the heart of most of Hibs' best work in the opening 45 minutes and they looked set for a half of frustration until he volleyed a Jason Cummings corner past Alan Martin, who had kept out his fierce header a couple of minutes earlier.

Graham came close to a second just after the start of the second period, with his header being deflected onto the bar, but he made no mistake on 75 minutes to settle the game.

David Gray played Graham in and the striker took the pass on his chest and controlled before firing past Martin.

Dundee United are locked with Hibs on 34 points after a tense 1-0 win over Ayr United at Somerset Park.

Ray McKinnon's decision to recall Tope Obadeyi paid off for United with the former Kilmarnock striker scoring the only goal in the sixth minute.

The Tangerines broke quickly after clearing an Ayr free-kick and Obadeyi ran through and rounded Ayr 'keeper Greg Fleming before finding the empty net.

Ayr struggled to create many chances after the break with Gary Harkins' shot 20 minutes from time, which flashed just past the post, the closest they came to an equaliser.

Falkirk are now eight points adrift of the top two after they were held at home 2-2 by early leaders Queen of the South.

Stephen Dobbie gave the visitors a 34th-minute lead and Derek Lyle secured a share of the points with a goal on the hour after Myles Hippolyte's double for the Bairns in the 45th and 54th minutes respectively.

Michael Moffat scored twice to give Dunfermline a 2-1 win over Morton at East End Park and bottom side St Mirren won only their second game of the season with Lewis Morgan's 47th-minute goal enough for a 1-0 win over Raith Rovers.
