Alan Gow grabbed the all-important winning goal on 63 minutes to set up a quarter final tie with Hibernian.
Gretna ended last round's heroes Clyde's hopes in the Scottish Cup with a 4-0 win in their replay as James Grady helped himself to a hat-trick.
Grady broke the deadlock on 25 minutes and Kenny Deuchar doubled the lead on 69 minutes.
Grady wrapped up the game with his second on 70 minutes and things got worse for Clyde when Craig McKeown was sent off for a professional foul.
Grady completed his hat-trick eight minutes from time to set up a quarter final meeting with St Mirren.
St Mirren booked their place in the last eight with a convincing 3-0 victory over Spartans.
John Sutton fired the home side in front after just 12 minutes and Charlie Adam added a second 15 minutes later. Ian Maxwell made the game safe with a third goal on 68 minutes.
Dundee set up a quarter final tie with Hamilton after a 2-0 win over Airdrie Utd at Dens Park.
Bryan Deasley gave the hosts the ideal start with the opener after just eight minutes and Simon Lynch made sure of the win with the second on 71 minutes.
