Scottish First Division leaders Morton remain two points clear at the top after Archie Campbell and Peter MacDonald struck in the first-half to give them a 2-0 victory over Falkirk.
Interim manager Alex Smith was in charge of the visitors for the first time but he was unable to make a winning start and Falkirk remain fifth in the standings.
The hosts grabbed the lead after half an hour when Campbell scored his 12th of the season, calmly converting a close-range chance.
However, he then missed the target when he was presented with another good opportunity moments later.
David Weatherston fired over at the other end but Morton then extended their advantage when MacDonald's header found the bottom corner following a Michael Tidser cross.
The hosts almost went 3-0 up after the break but David O'Brien's clever lob went just over the crossbar.
