Hearts striker Conor Sammon is poised to make a loan switch to Championship side Dundee United in the next 48 hours.
According to media reports in Scotland, talks are at an advanced stage between the two clubs, which would see the 30-year-old moving on an initial emergency one-month loan.
However, the Tannadice club are keen to extend the deal to the end of the season for the former Kilmarnock forward.
Sammon moved to Tynecastle in June on a three-year contract from Derby but has struggled with his form, scoring just twice in 19 games.
United boss Ray McKinnon revealed he has one specific target in mind, without revealing the name of the player.
"We are actively looking to see if there is anything out there," McKinnon said in The Scotsman.
"At the moment we would like to bring one player into a certain area of the team. That is well documented and it is where our focus is.
"On top of that, I would strengthen the team as much as I can. It just comes down to whether I can do it or not."
