The £200,000 offer was rejected by the Fir Park board and the two clubs are thought to be some way apart on the player's valuation.
Terrors boss Ian McCall (pictured) is still hopeful of signing the 26-year-old and is looking to bring Corrigan in before the Tannadice outfit take on Rangers at the weekend.
If the deal is not completed McCall may turn his attentions to French trialist Nicolas Sahnoun who has impressed in training since joining the club from Bordeaux.
The United manager has become annoyed at suggestions the club have signed too many First Division players and feels that is not the reason why they are currently sitting bottom of the SPL table.
"Anyone who believes that argument betrays their lack of knowledge about the game," said McCall.
"The likes of Colin Samuel, Mark Kerr and Barry Robson have all shown me enough already to believe they will be good signings for United."
